Famed Music Mogul Deb Antney’s Biopic ‘Deb Is Boss’ Will Set The Record Straight
Deb Antney — the powerful music manager who helped launch the careers of artists like Nicki Minaj, Gucci Mane and French Montana.
A new scripted drama based on the life of music-managing mogul Deb Antney was announced by WE tv and AMC Networks.
Titled ‘Deb Is Boss’, it’s inspired by Antney’s rise from hard beginnings in Queens to becoming a major force in the male-dominated hip-hop industry. It is an eight-episode scripted season that explores her personal struggles—including her past as a drug dealer and numbers runner. All would unknowingly lead her to ultimate success in entertainment.
Antney's Life has long been a story in waiting for many her fans. She's no stranger to the television screen. A personality regular on WE TV’s ‘Growing Up Hip Hop’. Deb’s straight to the point persona became the viewers favorite.
The project is a collaboration between WE tv, Foxxhole Productions (led by Jamie Foxx and Datari Turner), and Tri Destined Studios.
Recording artist turned Actress Lil Mama, stars as Antney. With LisaRaye McCoy (Family Business, Players Club) as Amelia, Clifton Powell (Dead Presidents Preacher’s Kid) as James and Dan Lauria as Uncle Ben.
The series is designed to dramatize her life and career, including her early struggles, unique approach to artist development, and role as a trail-blazing female executive in entertainment. Antney’s biopic premieres March 5th on the ALL BLK network.
